Representatives of University of Saint Joseph visited Guangzhou City University of Technology for building a platform for exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong and Macao

On December 9, Huang Mingxian, director of Cooperative Affairs for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area of University of Saint Joseph (USJ), and his retinue visited Guangzhou City University of Technology (GCUT) to discuss academic exchanges and cooperation. Li Ying, vice president of GCUT and related leadership of the Office for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs of GCUT met the guests.

Lin Ying extended warm welcome to their visit. She pointed out that USJ has its own unique advantages in its specialty construction and location with the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area while frequent exchanges and cooperation between China’s mainland universities and that in Hong Kong and Macao are established. She hoped to carry out extensive exchanges and cooperation in talent cultivation, teacher training and scientific research.

Zhang Fengchun, director of the Office for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs of  GCUT gave a brief introduction about the history, characteristics of specialty, talent cultivation and exchanges and cooperation outside China’s mainland of the university. She mentioned that the number of students preferring to choosing universities in Hong Kong and Macao for further education was growing according to the data of students pursuing further education outside China’s mainland in recent years. Therefore, it is hoped that GCUT can join hands with USJ in building a platform for mutual exchanges and cooperation.

Huang Mingxian briefly introduced USJ. Founded in 1996, USJ is a private university that offers curriculum of bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degreesIt set up the School of Social Sciences and Education, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Faculty of Business and Law, Institute for Data Engineering and Science as well as Faculty of Religious Studies and Philosophy. USJ attaches great importance to the internationalization of education, thus all of its courses are taught in English while 80% of its students are international ones.

Furthermore, Huang Mingxian also visited the Training Center of Economic Administration in the Liberal Arts Building accompanied by related leadership of the Office for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs of GCUT.
